Thomas Kicher, VP of Engineering at Kicher & Co., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in engineering.
Dr. Kicher is an award-winning engineer whose expertise in the scientific field has allowed him to meet with tremendous success in academic as well as in tactical roles in engineering over the last four decades. Today, he is the vice president of Kicher & Company, a consulting firm that he established to share his expertise in the stress analysis and prediction of mechanical behaviors of complex devices and structures. In business since 1975, its offerings have expanded to include the failure analysis and design of mechanical and structural systems where new technology must be infused and new materials must be applied. Dr. Kicher is regarded for his expertise in these areas due to his extensive experience in his field. He has met with success in his career in past roles with Union Carbide Corporation, Medtronics Inc., Chase Brass & Copper Co., Stouffer Foods Corporation, Westinghouse, Brunswick, 3M, Lubrizol, Parker-Hannifin, Meyer Products and ProQuip. Dr. Kicher holds a dozen patents in the field of engineering with two dozen pending in application.
In addition to the accomplished work mentioned above, Dr. Kicher is proud of the work he has done in academia. He taught engineering for 40 years at Case Western Reserve University, while also spending seven years as the department chairman and five years as the dean of engineering. Dr. Kicher feels that he has been successful in his career because his approach to problem solving is based on fundamental principles in both engineering and scientific disciplines. His education has played a role in this success. A graduate of the Case Institute of Technology, he earned a PhD in engineering in 1965, a Master of Science in engineering mechanics in 1962, and a Bachelor of Science in engineering science in 1959. To remain at the top of his field, Dr. Kicher holds membership with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Experimental Mechanics, Sigma Xi, Theta Tau, and Tau Beta Pi. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. As he looks to the future, Dr. Kicher intends to continue in his consulting work while seeking out new opportunities to impact his industry in the years to come.
